VITAMINS & SUPPLEMENTS


Taking a high quality, high potency multiple viamin/mineral is one of the most important things you can do for your health. Over the past 20 years of reading books and research about integrative healthcare, this is a recurring theme.

A "one-a-day" vitamin like Centrum is better than nothing, but they are low quality and absorb poorly. A really good multiple vitamin requires taking 4 to 6 capsules each day. This takes a commitment, but it is easy.

Patients need to educate themselves to understand why this is so good for you. There are many great books out there, but the one I recommend the most is "The Encyclopedia of Natural Medicine" by Murray and Dizzorno. This book has thousands of references and is a great read.

Vitamin D research published last year showed that it decreased the chance of getting all cancers significantly, with NO side effects. How about a 50% less chance of getting breast cancer! Or a 75% less chance of colo-rectal cancer!

No vitamin/mineral supplement has shown to decrease your chance of having cancer like Vitamin D. The RDA value for Vitamin D is 400 i.u. a day, but taking up to 3000 i.u. a day had no negative side effects. Our office works with several MD's that can help evaluate your condition, by referral. Selenium has also been shown to reduce cancer incidences; 200 mcg is recommended. But all vitamins and minerals have different effects and work best with proper advice
